Should I feel guilty about applying to sales jobs after an advertising internship?

I recently finished an advertising internship and want to go into advertising, but I’ve been out of work for a while and decided to look at other places besides advertising which includes sales. I always thought of sales as a job that did not require a college degree but I’m considering it anyways. But if I take a job like that, am I pretty much forfeiting any chances of being in the production or account side of advertising? I still have the internship experience but I need some money soon.

Don’t hesitate — take the sales job. You’re early enough in your career that a variety of experiences are valuable. One of two things will hopefully come out of some sales experience — you might decide you love it, or you will get experience that will be very useful to you in marketing. Good luck!
